“When I was at UVA, coach O’Connor had Logan Stout come talk to us and his words really gave me a lot of perspective on not just what it means to win and what winning looks like, but more importantly he gave us insight on what it takes to be a winner. I wasn’t a reader by any means and at the time he talked to us I was actually taking time off from school to work and save up money to pay bills during the 2021 season. I was working in insurance and truth be told it wasn’t for me. That’s besides the point, but I read Logan’s book, “Grit Factor” immediately after hearing him speak. I read the whole book within a two day span for two reasons. First was the fact that Logan speaks without an ego at all, despite being fully deserving of a huge ego. Second, was it was compelling work that went hand in hand with the talk he gave us. I went to work the next day after finishing the book and ended up making 250 cold calls. Logan does a great job of motivating guys to get the job done and he does it in a way that is so incredibly humble and just straight up inspires. I still remember the best thing he said and what I took away from the talk was his reason for working hard. It was entirely selfless and something that’s been ingrained in me since. He said he doesn’t want nice things, but he wants to be the parent with the house that all the kids want to go to. That really just stuck with me, that notion of I don’t want this to be flashy, but I want this because my kids will want to be here and will love having their friends over here. Don’t get me wrong either, I am totally the type of guy to go into anything with skepticism and I was a college kid at the time. So of course we had a zoom call and I went in with the typical college mindset of dread that zoom calls gave us all during Covid. I had zero idea just how inspired and motivated I would be after that. If I knew the fire Logan was going to light in me I would’ve been an hour early to the call. Being present and making the mindful choice to open my ears and listen really put me on such a better path in life and I’m truly grateful for Logan’s time. “
